Thank you for your interest in the Lemon Grove School District preschool program. We offer a no-cost, comprehensive, part-day program which serves three-to-five year old children. The program is dually funded through Title 5 of the California Code for Regulation (State Preschool) and First 5 San Diego's Preschool For All (partnering with San Diego County Office of Education). The program is monitored for quality by California Department of Education, Child Development Division and Community Care Licensing.

The preschool program strives to offer a high quality experience to prepare young learners with early academic and social skills, in order to be effective learners in kindergarten and throughout their educational journey. We serve over 300 young children in a safe, cultural, linguistic, and developmentally appropriate setting.

The preschool program goals are:

  • To provide developmentally appropriate instruction and stimulating experiences to promote cognitive and social-emotional growth, through the context of play
  • To expose the child to literacy, math, and technology, which gives the child skills to compete in the changing world
  • To provide inclusive parental involvement

Services are available to all persons who meet eligibility requirements regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, national origin, and color, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability.

The preschool classrooms are located on the campuses of the following Lemon Grove schools:

  • Golden Avenue Elementary
  • Monterey Heights Elementary
  • Mt. Vernon Elementary
  • San Altos Elementary
  • San Miguel Elementary
  • Vista La Mesa Academy

We look forward to serving you and your child.

Ms. Donna Willson
